The Green Line Between Magic & Reality
~ Samantha Lewis
There are magicians and illusionists out there that can head to a stage or occur in a writer’s imagination. Yet the more our present-day world continues forward, the things we once thought were magic are now becoming far more of a reality.
It is a fact that the ‘greening’ of our earth has been walking the line between reality and magic for more than a decade; with new solutions to old problems now becoming clear. In a most unique way…
The night can be frightening and unsafe for walkers and bike riders; they have a difficult time seeing unless they are heading down paths in the larger cities that are well lit and patrolled often. But there is one new creation that is thrilling, and it came about because of an artist, a creator, and the need to be safe.
This idea may be romantic to many and seem like a one of a kind art project, but it is very likely to catch on. Using Van Gogh as a muse, Studio
Roosegaarde’s Lotus Dome has brought about an inspirational path that melds science fiction with nature. This is an actual path for bikers and walkers to use that is both beautiful and safe. When night falls, this path is lit by thousands of gleaming stones that actually resemble a night sky
that glitters with stars. Using LED lights powered by a nearby solar array that works by charging during the day, the light for this path then combines its daylight power with a light-collecting paint that has been used in the project.
Roosegaarde is working on this project diligently, attempting to make all roads far safer for humans to use. Currently this incredible path can only be found connecting the incredible artist’s heritage locations in the Netherlands. The creator of the road wanted to expressly combine two very powerful forces that, thus far, had not been utilized in this manner. Although technology is seen in other areas of business growing every minute, this path represents the new role of technology open to the people who can now walk and ride their bikes down this industrious pathway.
On to London… Plans are currently in the works to build a submerged Oasis Park that other countries will most definitely want to create for their own citizens at some point. Called ‘The Garden Bridge’, this will be a place where visitors can choose to go and relax and look out on the beauty of the city, as well as for joggers who wish to feel as if they have been transported into paradise away from the regular streets. Here, everywhere they look, they will be surrounded by breathtaking gardens.
The first ‘drafts’ of this Garden Bridge define a promenade with winding pathways elevated atop two fluted piers. A groundbreaking design is what the Garden Bridge offers, utilizing nature to bring back a habitat that is healthy and well-taken-care-of. Now all that’s left is for the naysayers to accept the fact that if you want something that will be green, stunning, and literally bring more economic growth to London, you first have to spend approximately £175 million to get it.
One other green inspiration to be recognized comes from Japan. Factories there have stood empty for a long time. They were once used for nothing but industry that is no longer
acceptable when it comes to clean air and clean water. Therefore, the intelligence has decided to create actual indoor farms inside these once-used factories to being about more economic growth and go green all at the same time. These vibrant, money-making indoor farms can be found inside the Sony and Fujitsu buildings. These factory farms are now indoor greenhouses and are absolutely thriving – fully automated so the person can control all the parameters that need to controlled, like irrigation times and temperatures, as well as soil ingredients – so that perfect crops can be grown at all times.
Toshiba is actually the headliner when it comes to the newest announcements of “clean” factory farms. The well-known corporation is putting together their own location/farm factory project that will have the capabilities to grow up to three million heads of lettuce every year without the use of sunlight or soil.
In other words…magic is springing up all over the place when it comes to the newest innovations that will make this world a healthier one.
