Record Your Archery Hunt with Playback
Looking for just the right present this holiday season for your compound bow? Put FUSE Archery’s new Playback stabilizer/camera on your wish list!
You’ve got to hand it to archery hunters. Amid all the jargon — pins, wheels, nocks, fletching, let-off, cams — that can be so confusing to a novice shooter, the industry got the name of the stabilizer right. The basic function of a weight mounted to a compound bow is to provide extra heft that produces stability when the bow is drawn.
Now FUSE Archery has teamed up with Tactacam to take the stabilizer to the next level. They’ve added a high-definition video camera to a 6-inch stabilizer and called it the Playback. Because that’s what it does: Playback records your hunt at the single touch of a button, and once downloaded to your computer, you can play your hunt back time after time.
The Tactacam technology allows hunters to post their adventures on social media sites online, which is a huge advantage over showing a bunch of still photos taken after shooting the buck of a lifetime.
So what’s to quibble about? You need a stabilizer and would like an easy way to record your hunt. With the 8.6-ounce Playback, the stabilizer/camera combo serves both purposes.
Playback easily mounts to any stabilizer mounting hole and therefore becomes part of your hunting equipment. Operating the camera itself doesn’t require anything more than a rechargeable Lithium battery (included) and a Class 10 micro SD card (not included). A single touch of a button begins recording, and another touch stops recording.
The high-quality, interchangeable lens uses a 12 megapixel sensor to shoot 1080p HD video or still images – even in low light. A good camera has to have the best lens and best image sensor. The Tactacam camera has both. Instead of using a fisheye lens, which pushes the images away, Tactacam uses a unique lens design, providing a view similar to what we see with the human eye: A 20-yard shot no longer looks like a 100-yard shot as you would get with other video cameras. And since it’s inside your stabilizer housing, the Playback is waterproof to 30 meters and will not obstruct your field of view. (Note that audio is not available when using the waterproof cap.)
Playback comes with everything you need for mounting on your bow. The rechargeable Lithium battery provides more than two hours of recording time and can be recharged using USB 2.0 or a 110/120-volt AC adapter. Downloading video and still camera images to your personal computer or Mac is easily handled with a USB 2.0 connection. A micro SD card (up to 32GB) is needed but not included.
You can find the Playback in the FUSE Archery catalog. Playback retails for $299 and is available in Realtree Xtra or Max-1, Next G2 or Black Out.
