NFL Overreaction to Having a ‘Bad Day’

NFL Overreaction to Having a ’Bad Day’

  ~ Amy Lignor

Fantasy football is looking a whole lot easier to predict than the real thing. Let’s face it, there have been controversies all over the place, with most coming from the QB position. Let’s take a look…

Smith or Vick? This is a QB controversy that seems to be making as many headlines as Ebola, and it is far less of a worry to the real world. Although fans of the Jets, as well as players, may feel differently about that, the fact that Smith sent out a cuss word to a fan seems to make omg-funny-animals-dog-1him even more evil in peoples’ eyes (because, of course, he’s the only football player to even cuss).

Come on, people! But whether or not Vick could do a better job in the position still remains a mystery. And it would take only one bad game (which could be his first if they put him in), before the ‘Praise Vick’ chant would go quiet.

Brady gets benched. Well, a bad game it surely was, but the question offered up to the coach regarding a QB controversy in New England was almost hysterical. In fact, Belichick snorted. The guy had a bad game. He is still the future Hall of Famer. He is still the man with three Super Bowl rings. And even if he is getting older…come on, people! It is Tom Brady and he is, by the way, younger than the magical Peyton Manning.

Alex Smith versus the man who bounced him out of San Francisco. Is Kap better? Is he worth the cash? Yup. He’s had a bad game this year already. Really bad. Should he be gone? Was Alex Smith leaving a mistake? Come on, people! Their statistics are almost exactly the same EXCEPT for the fact that Kap can run. Let’s rephrase that: he can gallop. The man has the movements of Steve Young; yet even Young couldn’t carry people around his neck as went into the end zone. Kap has the ability to do that. And as far as Harbaugh being hard to work with? Duh. Should an NFL coach pat you on the back and offer you a cup of tea when you lose a game? Come on, people! And Neon Deion was the one who spoke this; do you think he was difficult to play with?

Tony Romo. Headlines from the first week of the season basically put that man on the bottom. He could do nothing. He had not a chance in heck. The 49ers went to Dallas and made the team there look like fools. It’s over for Romo. Come on, people! Two games later…Tony Romo may be one of the best QB’s in the NFL. He makes Dallas unstoppable. He knows what he’s doing…yada, yada, yada. But what happens when he has a bad game next time?

The G-Men. First two games, losses. Eli Manning is done. They will be at the bottom of the pack this year and have no shot at even seeing a Wild Card spot. Come on, people! Well…two games later, and Eli Manning is definitely getting a hold on this West Coast offense and definitely is one of the best in the NFL. He will be miraculous. Watch out for those Giants.

Andrew Luck of the Colts. Is it skill, or is it actual luck? He can pull out a victory in the 4th quarter, reminding one of the Elway days when he played his best and finest performances. He was the comeback kid. Now, Luck may just take over that niche for good. But…Luck is also a QB that when he’s on he’s really on – when he’s off, he sinks to the bottom of the pack. Come on, people!

Peyton Manning. Oh, right…he can’t have a bad day. Still King no matter who he plays or whether or not he wins. Perhaps he’s the one with the luck. People? Come on!

RGIII is out. Again. The Redskins are done for the year. Cousins comes in – scores big – YAY! Next week, god he’s terrible. Without RGIII they have nothing. Of course, there will be games after the Redskins meet up with the Seahawks who, like Peyton Manning, seem to be the top pick even when they – come on, people – LOSE to the Chargers! Course, RGIII is expected back in Week 8, right? So…everything will be just fine.

Aaron Rodgers. Done. Over. History. Guy simply can’t do it anymore. But…all of a sudden, Aaron is back (although he never left). Good for him, especially considering his comment. After all, if he didn’t start winning again then the headlines would change from ‘Relax’ to ‘Lax’. Come on, people!

There are no givens in this NFL world of 2014 (even if you do love Seattle). Which actually makes this season a whole lot of fun to watch. The New Orleans Saints were supposed to be ‘it’ this time out. That just isn’t happening. But can it? Yes. You know why? Because 4 games into a season with every expert so far having to eat at least one of their predictions when game day comes to an end, shows the crowd and the fans exactly what they want to see in football – incredible games.

Season’s just beginning, people. It’s not over. So who’s going to win the Super Bowl? Easy answer: One of the two teams that plays in it. It will be darn interesting to see which teams they just happen to be; which QB’s prove everyone wrong; and, which experts will have to eat crow when all is said and done.
