Just Looking with Hedy Buzan, Laguna Art Museum, May 29

Date: May 29, 2014Hedy Buzan

Time: 7:00 pm

Free for museum members, free for non-members with museum admission ($5 & $7)

In Just Looking*, Laguna Beach artist Hedy Buzan invites art lovers to look at a few paintings just the way an artist does: slowly and carefully. Participants will spend an hour closely looking at three works from Wayne Thiebaud: American Memories, currently on view at Laguna Art Museum.
.
Looking at work slowly and meditatively enhances the art viewing experience. Each painting will be considered for twenty minutes as Buzan leads viewers in an informal and lively discussion. By looking at the elements of line, shape, color, and texture, viewers slow down and make discoveries, developing a deeper appreciation of the animating force that is present in great painting.
.
*Please note that this event is replacing One Hour/One Painting, previously scheduled with Peter Clothier.

Hedy Buzan was born in Laguna Beach. She studied printmaking at UC Santa Cruz and has an MFA in Design from The George Washington University. A well respected visual artist, Buzan is a painter and mixed media artist. Her studio is located at the Laguna Canyon Artists complex on Laguna Canyon Road. Buzan is an active member of the Laguna Beach arts community and a past board member of both the Festival of Arts and Sawdust Festival. She teaches drawing, two-dimensional design, printmaking, mixed media/collage, and color theory courses at Saddleback Community College.
